Earthing
Throughout history humans walked and slept on the ground and spent a lot of their time naturally grounded. Today, we have become increasingly disconnected from nature by our modern lifestyle. Walking barefoot is something we now do very rarely and with increasing number of us living in cities, many of us don’t get a chance to. When your bare feet or skin comes in contact with the earth, free electrons are taken up into the body. These electrons may be one nature’s biggest antioxidants which help neutralise damaging excess free radicals that can lead to inflammation.
how to earth yourself
Go barefoot for 15-30mins outside in nature (away from heavy artificial EMF environments), ideally first thing in the morning. Sit, stand, or walk on soil, grass or sand. These are all conductive surfaces from which your body can draw the Earth’s energy.
benefits
The human body works like an antenna absorbing electromagnetic fields that surround it. If you tested your body voltage whilst sitting at your computer, you would see the voltage shoot up. However, we never release this unnatural electrical charge because we are rarely earthed. For safety and stability, almost everything in the electrical world is earthed, that’s what the term “grounded” means however, we forget that we too are bio-electrical. Some of the more well known benefits include earthing include:
Improve or eliminate the symptoms of many inflammation related disorders
Improve sleep and promote a deeper sleep
Increase energy and vitality
Lower stress and promote calmness in the body by cooling down the nervous system and stress hormones
Normalize the body's biological rhythms
Relieve muscle tension and headaches
Lessen hormonal and menstrual symptoms
Earth Runners
If you want to stay grounded while out walking or running, then check out our partner Earth Runners who create eco-conscious sandals that allow for excellent adhesion to the foot, while facilitating natural articulation and connection to the earth.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
Earth Runners have a Vibram sole and copper ground plug on the underside of the shoe which is connected to a reinforced nylon lace that has stainless steel thread running through it. The laces run over your foot which allows you to stay grounded while wearing them.
