Stick with the cables over Bluetooth.

Bluetooth communicates on a the microwave frequency range of around 2.5GHz. Bluetooth headphones are particularly problematic because of the proximity to the brain. If you want to use headphones, we recommend using airtube headphones which use airtubes rather than traditional wires to transmit the signal.

Use a manual toothbrush over an electric one.

Electric toothbrushes can emit quite high magnetic fields (MFs) next to your head (even if only for a short period) and can induce currents in dental fixtures. If you do a buy a manual brush, help the environment by sticking with a fully biodegradable one.

Avoid using electric heating pads or blankets.

These devices cause astronomical electric fields (EFs) up to twenty to fifty times higher than building biology regulations.

Avoid using your laptop computer on your lap, particularly while you are using the AC power adapter.

This can cause very high EMF exposure, especially when the computer is connected. Place it on a table instead of your lap to save your reproductive organs. You may also want to buy a laptop shield or pad to that blocks EMFs, which is handy if you travel regularly (see our shop).

Use Ethernet instead of WiFi.

WiFi routers emit pulsed radiofrequencies (RFs) throughout your home. The best option is to wire your internet in using an Ethernet cable but also make sure to disable the WiFi too. If this isn’t possible, we would recommend turning the WiFi off at night when it’s not in use. Furthermore, position the WiFi router in a quiet area of the home (that does not mean your bedroom) and especially away from children’s rooms. A third option would be to use powerline adapters which transmit the signal through the mains wiring however, this will cause some dirty electricity (DE) in your circuits which can subsequently increase the low frequency fields in the room.

Consider shielding your smart meter or using analog.

You can buy shielding material that helps block EMFs coming from any electronic device. For example if your smart meter is under the stairs, you could shield that area off, at least on one side or use a faraday cage over the meter. Switching your meter back to analog might however, prove a bit more difficult. In some places, smart meters are even compulsory.

If you use a baby monitor, make sure its voice activated.

This is predominately referring to the US which usually use monitors which are active 24/7 emitting large amounts of RF radiation into the room.

Make sure your electronics like your PC are connected to a socket that’s properly grounded.

Ungrounded sockets can cause a much larger EMFs. Most sockets should be grounded if they’ve been fitted properly. You can buy a little plug that tells you if its not.

Reduce the number of dirty electricity (DE) emitting devices.

The best way to avoid DE is to eliminate or unplug any devices or technologies causing it. These include things like light dimmer switches, some appliances, battery charging devices, hair dryers, solar power systems & powerline adapters. Perhaps one of the most common DE culprits are compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) as they contain an electronic ballast, which emits high frequencies into occupied rooms along the entire length of the branch circuit that they are screwed into. Electronic ballasts have passing 50 Hz in and can emit up to 25,000 - 30,000 Hz on the wires that leave the ballast. You can also use DE filters to reduce DE further, these plug into mains outlets causing interference filtering technology to “short out” (or shunt) erratic surges and spikes of electrical energy, while allowing standard electricity to pass through unimpeded.
